KATHMANDU: Property worth over Rs 10 million has been reduced to ashes when two sets of generator caught fire due to short circuit at the underground parking lot of the City Centre in Kamalpokhari of the Capital City on Wednesday afternoon.
“One control panel board, two generator sets with 250 KVA (Kilo Volt Ampere) along with the cable system got destroyed when the fire engulfed them in the underground parking lot of the City Centre,” said Police Inspector Kiran Jang Kunwar of the Metropolitan Police Sector, Kamalpokhari.
The fire had been brought under control after all the traders and customers were evacuated from the City Centre.
No human casualties took place and all the vehicles including the bikes parked around the perimeter of 15 metres are safe.
Six fire brigades and as many as 250 security personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepali Army had been engaged in the fire-fighting.
The management has not yet allowed anybody including the entrepreneurs to resume their business to avert any possible thefts, informed Inspector Kunwar
