KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 13 - The government has decided to honor each
member of the Nepali Cricket team who anchored Nepal to Division 3 after
winning the title of World Cricket League Division 4 with a sum of Rs. 3
hundred thousand. A meeting of the cabinet held today took thew
decision to this effect.
Breaking the tradition of neglecting the nation's sporting sector, the government begun the initiative to appreciate the contribution of players by giving out the prize money for further motivation.
Earlier this morning, the Unified CPN Maoists also honored the national cricketers. Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, had felicitated the players in a program held at the party's headquarters in Paris Danda.
Nepal who won the title of the fourth division and entered division three of the ICC Cricket World Cup League Division held in Malaysia recently will be playing in Bermuda for the division three competition next year. If they reach the top two of the competition, Nepal will get a chance to participate in the World Cup selections with ten other nations which would be a difficult proposition for the team but also their only route to make it to the senior World Cup to be held in 2015.
