KATHMANDU: The Special Committee (SC) for the supervision, integration and rehabilitation of the former Maoist combatants is handing over cheques to the Maoist former combatants opting for voluntary retirement.
At least 6,95 combatants have been given the cheques and travel expense , according to the SC.
202 combatants in Rolpa, 123 fighters in Chitwan , 63 battlers in Sindhuli and 92 fighters in Ilam were bidden farewell on the first day of cheque handover programme on Friday.
The task of handing over cheques to the combatants will continue today also, said Madhu Bilas Pandit, Officiating Secretary at the SC Secretariat.
The Ministry of Finance has allocated Rs. 819.59 million for combatants preferring voluntary retirement to integration into Nepal Army(NA).
Meanwhile, the selection round of the integration of combatants of officer level into the NA is going on at NA School, Chitwan.
A total of 1,56combatants have filled up forms for the integration while 1,600 combatants have chosen voluntary retirement.
