WASHINGTON: A new, martian-themed batch of bird-hurling action is ready for launch, with the Red Planet update deployed to iOS and Android editions of Angry Birds Space. The game’s continued association with space exploration agency NASA means that three hidden curiosity rovers and landers are tucked away throughout the 20 levels.

NASA’s statement credits Angry Birds Space with introducing players to the concept of microgravity. “It’s a great way to introduce both kids and adults to the wonders of the planet in a fun and entertaining way,” said David Weaver of the NASA communications department.

FB envisions swanky new digs as shares sink

SAN FRANCISCO: Facebook Inc (FB) on Friday unveiled plans for a massive new campus annex in Menlo Park to be designed by Frank Gehry, the renowned architect who has won plaudits for metal-sheathed works like the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

Plans for the site depict Gehry’s vision of a single-storey, hangar-like building covering 420,000 square feet, or roughly the area of eight football fields combined under one roof.

“It will be almost an engineering paradise,” Slater Tow, a FB spokesman, said. For decades, high-flying Silicon Valley firms have used swanky offices packed with creature comforts to attract top talent.
