Transportation resumes, vehicles vandalised


KATHMANDU, AUG 07 -
Vehicular movement that was halted for four hours from 6am to 10am nationwide on Tuesday morning has been resumed.
Normal life was crippled due to the transport strike enforced by the CPN-UML-affiliated Youth Association Nepal (YAN) this morning.
Earlier for two days, YAN had called transport strike in the valley for four hours.
Meanwhile, the irate YAN cadres vandalised a truck (Ba 1 Ka 4496), a tempo (Na 1 Ha 727 )in Chitwan, a garbage vehicle, a truck (Ba 2 Kha 2234) at Sallaghari, Bhaktapur and a taxi (Ba 1 Ja 1215) in front of Chappal Karkhana , Maharjgunj for defying strike this morning.
The strike is a part of a series of protest programmes against the Baburam Bhattarai government.
On Monday, sixteen youth and student associations affiliated to various opposition parties and the Chure Bhawar Rastriya Ekata Party decided to intensify protests against the government.
A joint meeting formed a 19-member struggle committee with members from each association and the Chure Bahabar Rastriya Ekata Party.
The associations decided to continue street protests until the Baburam Bhattarai-led government tenders its resignation, as it has lost its status after the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly.
